Pakorn Yoodee, Thailand, 2011
Pakorn is a young photographer from Chiang Mai, Thailand. He had a small display of his work set up in the middle of a Sunday Market, sandwiched between stalls selling little wooden frogs and Tuk-Tuks made out of Singha cans. I wish I could have taken one of his prints home, but I don’t think it would have survived the rest of the trip through the boozy islands to the south and Bangkok’s humid summer air.
We had a brief chat about photography - I think he spotted my Fuji X100 from ten meters away and we gave each other that knowing nod that seems to unite all of the world’s broke and happy photographers. Have a look at his work, he has a very good eye and an a very mature style that should, if things were fair, make him one of South East Asia’s most in-demand commercial/editorial photographers.
